The drive from Slocan to Calgary covers approximately 450 kilometers through the heart of the Canadian Rockies. You will travel south to Nelson, then take Highway 3 East to Cranbrook, and finally Highway 93/95 North to the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) East into Calgary. This route takes about 6 hours of driving time. You will pass through stunning mountain landscapes, including the Kootenay and Banff National Parks. It is a popular route for those traveling between the Kootenays and Alberta.
Total Distance: 450 km driving, 300 km air distance.
National Park passes are required if you drive through Banff.
June to September for clear roads and mountain hiking.
