The drive from Oliver to Nelson takes you through the heart of the Southern Interior and the Kootenays. You will travel east on Highway 3, passing through Osoyoos and Grand Forks. The route is approximately 230 km and takes about 3 hours under normal conditions. You will eventually turn onto Highway 3A at Castlegar to reach the lakeside city of Nelson. This route is famous for its winding mountain passes and river valley views.

Watch for deer on the road, especially during dawn and dusk near Grand Forks.
