Traveling from Malahat to Kelowna requires a ferry crossing to the mainland followed by a long drive through the interior. You will take the ferry from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen, then drive via Highway 1 and the Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5). The total journey takes approximately 8 hours. This route crosses the Cascade Mountains and enters the Okanagan Valley.

The Coquihalla Highway requires winter tires from October to April.
Summer for wine touring or winter for skiing, but check mountain passes.
