The journey from Kootenay Bay to Calgary is approximately 450 kilometers. You must take the Kootenay Lake Ferry to Balfour, then travel east on Highway 3A to Creston, then Highway 3 (Crowsnest Highway) through the Rockies to Alberta, and finally Highway 2 north to Calgary. This route takes about 6 hours. It is a beautiful drive through the mountains and the prairies.
